Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi

‘The recital of the books of hadith is a tradition that must be revived.’

– His Eminence Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi

Sayyid Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi is an internationally renowned Islamic scholar, a reviver of the prophetic way and a clear voice advocating traditional Sunni Islam in the world today.

He descends from a scholarly family that traces its lineage back to the Prophet ﷺ through the Idrisi lineage in Morocco. He was born in Syria and began to study from an early age under his father, the erudite scholar and sufi gnostic, Sayyid Shaykh Ibrahim al-Yaqoubi, covering over 600 books in all disciplines of the Islamic sciences.

Due to his dedication to the sacred knowledge from a tender age, Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi today holds some of the highest and strongest chains of hadith in the world. In his shortest chain there are 15 narrators between Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqobi and Imam al-Bukhari, all famous acknowledged hadith masters from the history of Islam. Scholars, students and common Muslims flock in thousands to benefit from them, attaching themselves to the Prophet ﷺ through these chains.

Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi pioneers the revival of the tradition of recital of the works of prophetic sayings, a tradition that was honoured and maintained in the times of grandeur of Muslim reigns of the past, including the Ottoman empire. Having conducted many recitals of major works of hadith worldwide, by the grace of Allah, his sixth complete recital of Sahih al-Bukhari, from beginning to end, is now to take place in Istanbul.

The Shaykh will be reciting from the Sultan Abdul Hamid II edition of Sahih al-Bukhari, which is the best revised and most precise edition of Sahih al-Bukhari available today. He will read it from a copy of the original Sultani edition extant in his own personal library, made available to the public in a beautifully printed facsimili edition in 9 volumes – the most recent in a series of publications of Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi in honour and praise of the noble Prophet ﷺ.

Sahih Bukhari is the best book any human being ever wrote. It is the foundation of the Muslim deen.
